From Telluride to the Oscars, Moonlight continues to make motion picture history on and off the theatrical screen. One of the greatest gifts provided by the brilliance of Moonlight, is the illuminating dialog that is universally shared well after this story concluded. This drama based film, that is unapologetically driven by the journey of a black queer man, has sparked a much-needed conservation surrounding the complexity of identity and intersectionality. Tackling topics of black male intimacy, hyper-masculinity, gender performance, drug abuse, extreme poverty, sexual identity and so much more, Moonlight has challenge viewers to reflect on their own experiences surrounding the themes of this film.
So to further progress this journey of self-reflection, we’ve conducted a series of interviews with viewers who are still basking in the glow of Moonlight. With these discussions, we hope to gain a greater understanding of identity beyond the constraints of social constructs, while also honoring the brilliance of Moonlight.
